So happy to celebrating this year with TWO mama’s ❤ I’m very blessed and grateful for them.
So happy to celebrating this year with TWO mama’s ❤ I’m very blessed and grateful for them.
This last weekend was THANKSGIVING WEEKEND!! =) Markel and I went to his parents home in Beaumont for the weekend, It was SO MUCH FUN, totally relaxing, and went by WAY TOO FAST. *sigh *
Here are some photos of the weekend~~
The Wednesday before Thanksgiving, my coworkers and I had a little lunch to celebrate our dear friend’s birthday! We have a new restaurant on campus so we went to try out the new delicious Wolf Gang Puck Express Eatery.
After a half day, Markel and I were OFF to meet his friends for dinner!
We also had a chance to meet up with Mike’s friends, some of who were visiting for the weekend. =)
We went to Eureka Burger and it was deliiicious~~~
Thanksgiving Dinner was BOMB~ as usual! Lots of time with family around the table. =)
Put up the Christmas Tree at the Blair home! Lucy could NOT get enough of it~ she loves playing under it. I’m not in love with nutcrackers! The Blairs have a nice collection of them and I’m interested in starting my own too ❤
Leftovers for DAYYYS. We kept coming up with new ideas of how to eat it and I swear…there was NOT ONE disappointing dish!
We feasted all weekend!
A Friendsgiving Meal at Church =) It was BEYOND amazing~~~
A photodump of my baby love Lucy ❤
We got Lucy some Christmas wear ❤
The one above and below are my favorite pictures of her from the weekend ❤ She’s totally melted my heart and I can’t get enough of her furry face! xoxo
Mike’s niece gave Lucy this doll to play with and Lucy WENT TO TOWN. We weren’t sure we should be happy she found a toy to play with, or scared that she would chew on our future child. >.< We might be bad puppy parents already.
AND NOW, it’s already Friday!! Eek~~~I’m glad this week passed by so quickly. The weather is getting colder and well…I’m excited to pull out all my winter wear. Since moving from Norcal to Socal I have a huge box of clothes I no longer pull out since the coldest it ever gets here is in the 50s. Goodbye Jcrew Jcakets with extra insulation, goodbye Northface Rain/Snow coats, goodbye rain boots!
Anyway…Can’t wait to relax over the weekend with my Markel and Lucy. OH! I almost forgot to mention that we started BREAKING BAD this past weekend! It’s soooooooooo good. That is the only thing on my list to do tonight~ eat sushi at home and watch breaking bad ❤
Got these from my mom the other day! ahh…makes me really want to go back.
These are pics from our last day~I was so confident about my paddle boarding skills until the ocean owned my ass. I lost my sunglasses and scraped my knee =( But it was still great fun to go out and try something new with Mike and my family. ❤
Friday, I stayed home and relaxed. I really needed the night off to just do nothing and slowly pick things up around the house. Plus, Markel was super sick so he slept most of the night away~
Saturday was one busy morning. Went to a beautiful Bridal Shower (Nautical and Hamptons Themed). So cute! The rest of the day, I did chores around the house and built furniture that we bought at IKEA last weekend. Long night, but we finally got it all done! xo
Sunday was another incredibly busy day. First, a birthday brunch for my bestie (her 29th + 1 birthday). Then Markel and I ran errands and checked out pets! We’re hoping to adopt one soon ❤
My First time eating Five Guys! Definitely not as yummy as In and Out, but it was awesome to make my own burger, munch on peanuts, and eat their seasoned fries!
and now…it’s Monday =( Back to work…
My updates are out of order at the moment (still haven’t downloaded all my wedding/wedding related photos). So here’s what I DO have to share!
Last weekend was a busy one. I was still recovering from the cold/flu/whatever it was, and Mike and I had a packed list of things to do…
Saturday,I made our first breakfast as Husband & Wife ❤
Later, we went to a funeral service for my old college roommate/current coworker’s mom. It was a beautiful ceremony and the pastor retold some very very touching moments of his observations of the family and the deceased mama. Afterwards, we went to an Asian buffet…love buffets.
Aren’t these lights ADORABLE??? LOVE the black shades ❤
Sunday, a day full of more home decor shopping,
In the afternoon we went to the most ADORABLE baby shower!! Well, more like a celebration of 3 baby girls (cousins) who were born within the same 6 weeks!! So exciting ❤
This is mike awkwardly holding his friend’s baby girl (annabelle). It took a LOT of peer pressure and coaxing for him to take the plunge and hold the baby! lol
The gorgeous spread of sangria, wine, dessert bar, appetizers, and Mexican food buffet!
Finally made the big purchase on Sunday after thinking about it overnight from our Saturday visit (IKEA)
OUR PAAAACKED CAR
I’ll show you pics of our new place later when it’s all built and set up! xoxo
If you follow me on Instagram (@estchang), you already know my big news… I’m ENGAGED!!!
This entire weekend has been such a whirlwind of surprises, friends, champagne, and great food. Here’s the play-by-play that’s ingrained in my brain and life history foreverrrr…
Saturday Morning I woke up (8am) to find Markel furiously typing on his computer in the dark (kinda cweepy right). I went back to bed and woke up at 9am and got ready to go hiking at Will Rogers park. (Markel and I are trying to be more fit so we had decided to go earlier in the week.)
But some strange things went down…1) Markel showered before hiking 2) he wore a nice H&M shirt 3) he brought a backpack of water (which he never does) 4) he paid $12 for parking (which we would NEVERRR do)
Yet…I was still in the dark. Obvi~ since I snapped photos of myself in the car window reflection (exhibit A)
When we get to Will Rogers, I started to jog (VERY SLOWLLLYY) up the mountain trails but Markel suggested we walk and take it easy (hm…that should have been a clue, but alas…I was still in the dark)
When we get towards the top, Markel takes out a t-shirt for us to wipe our sweat (also very unusual…). The first time I gave in, the SECOND time he asked…it really should have been a red flag~~ but silly me…i declined and just kept on walking (and sweating).
(it was a PERFECT day out)
At the top of the Hill, there were Balloons, Roses, and a sign that read “will you marry me” in Korean. SOOOOO SWEET. Markel got down on one knee, said a few romantic/heart warming things, and proposed in Korean ❤ SOOOOO thoughtful.
After that…I kinda killed the romance because…1) I couldn’t get my other ring off on my ring finger (one that my mama bought me in 6th grade) 2) Markel’s friends popped out of the bushes to video tape and take pictures so I started to pose and laugh. hahaha
The walk down~~ I’m sure people were wondering why we had roses, balloons and a giant sign ❤
And…I really thought this was the end of the festivities…But of course, SUUUPER romantic Markel has to come up with even more ways to make this day Bomb….
I met 3 girlfriends in ktown and they surprised me with Sangria!! SOOO FREAKING SWEET ❤ My first celebration of the day (after the proposal)
After some shopping, I got back home at 530pm and Markel made plans for us to celebrate at Rustic Canyon. I LOVE that place so I was down to spend a romantic evening alone ❤
(oh…I also realized at the dinner that I hadn’t texted ANY of my friends and hadn’t actually told anyone besides my family and 3 girlfriends. HAHA. Yes…I was still in engagement shock. I texted everyone at dinner and took some pictures of my ring. My bad, friends!!!)
Sneaky Markel at it again…I thought the whole time he was answering congratulatory texts but he was REALLYY checking in on the biggest surprise of my entire life. HAHA (after the proposal)
Markel and I met at Busby’s in July 2008 and the rest has been History! After dinner he asked if I wanted to grab a drink there so we could end our night where we met. I thought it was SOO romantic so of COURSE I said yes. Little did I EVERRR expect the surprise I saw when I walked in…
All my friends were there!!!!!!!!!!!! I was SOOOO shocked, I don’t think I’ve ever been so stunned! HAHAHAHAHA
As if the surprises couldn’t get any bigger…Markel invited my two besties from SF to come down!!!!!! One of whom was there when I first met Mike back in 2008. It was incredibly magical ❤
This is the fireplace that Markel came over and talked to us.
4+ years ago, Markel asked us to play Foosball so we played again. Mellie and I lost (again). Boo.
HAHAHA how awesome are these head cut outs??? HAHAHAHA
Sorry if I could take pictures with everyone! I was definitely floating on a cloud of alcohol and adrenaline ❤
I’m sad cause my face is so dark…boo. haha
Last pic of the Night ❤
BEST NIGHT AND DAY EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
The next morning, the SF ladies, Markel and I went to Overland Cafe for bottomless mimosas and breakfast ❤ Along with some good ole hanging out until they had to make the 7 hour trek back home.
My house is a flower garden now! Smells SOOOO good.
Sunday Night, final celebration with champs and thai food ❤
Last champs of the night ❤ And about my 112th glass over the weekend.
Thank you so much to everyone who came out and celebrated!! Special thanks to Ejo, Jen, Evan and Jon who helped make this day as magical as it was!! I felt so blessed and loved to have been able to share and celebrate this next new chapter with ya’ll.
ANDDDD to my special SF lezzies who drove 17 hours in one weekend to celebrate SUCH a big day with Markel and Me.
XOXOXOXOXO Love you guys!!!
I have to say…Thanksgiving is one of the few holidays I can’t get enough of. I know for most it’s Christmas~ but I feel like since this is the first fall holiday, it really brings your family together after a summer of vacations and busy-ness. This year (like last year), I spent it with the Blair family.
My day was pretty cray as I visited a friend for coffee, spent time with my grandma in her nursing home, and then feasted like a starved child the rest of the day/evening.
Yummy Iced Coffee (dabang style)
Juicy Turkey, Straight from the Oven
Markel’s favorite wine
My first time eating Corn Souffle (YUMM)
Broccoli covered in heaven
Perfectly sliced meat with Dark on one side, White on the other.
My first serving…SOOOOOOO freaking delicious.
PIES!! Pumpkin, chocolate Pecan, Banana Cream and Cherry.
of COURSE, I ate a little bit of each
Waited in line at Sam’s Club to get the new Samsung Galaxy S3. TOTALLY worth it.
Markel and Me…looking fly at 530am.
My black friday haul~ free food, a diaper genie, and my new phone ❤
Black Friday Nails
Thanksgiving Eve…I celebrated all day with wine, tequila, and awesome food. Two wine nights in 1 day? I love it.
“1:30pm on a wednesday? yes this is happening”
“wine night, round 2”
I’m SOOOO excited! Today, the Blairs and I are going wine tasting in Temecula together. I LOVE everything about this trip~~ eating lunch outside at a winery, getting to try new delicious wine bottles, and spending time with Markel, Mama and Papa Blair. This weekend there is a Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival going on~ not sure if we’re going to go to that, but wine tasting and a gorgeous lunch outside are definitely on our check-list! Today, I leave you with some fun pics I found online to show you what I’ll be doing this weekend ❤
As for an outfit…I’m thinking about something like these below with GORGEOUS nude espadrilles =)
Yes, another wedding related post. Bear with me friends! When my parents came to visit in April, there was a lot of debate and preparation for whether or not my brother and his fiancee would participate (or include) the PaeBaek in their wedding this July. If you live in Los Angeles, having a paebaek is a cinch. You hire a company (prices range from $300-$1500) to come set up the materials, give you your outfit, do your hair, and help you re-create the traditional ceremony. The bride and groom basically bow to every member of the groom’s family and participate in symbolic supersitutions and rights of passage. It’s all very fun and more for pictures these days than the actual meaning of the ceremony. My friends have generally done this during the cocktail hour so that guests don’t have to watch if they don’t want to. Plus it’s nice for the bride/groom to knock it out while their guests are boozing it up at the bar. LOL.
Anyway, this is a ceremony that I’m super excited to have one day~ it’ll be fun, playful and a lifetime of great memories! For those of you who are unfamiliar with it…here are some pictures:
